Curious Company appoints André Hennen as Creative Director

The Hamburg-based digital agency Curious Company, specializing in immersive brand communication, is strengthening its leadership team and appointing André Hennen as Chief Creative Officer. He will now be responsible for the central theme of “immersive storytelling.” The appointment marks an important milestone in the strategic focus of the young agency, which closely intertwines storytelling, new technologies, and tangible business objectives in its creative work. Hennen has been active in the creative industry for nearly 20 years. His work for numerous renowned agencies and brands has already won over 150 awards.

Over the past ten years, André Hennen has supported a wide range of well-known companies and agencies as a freelance creative expert, including Telekom, Europa-Park, Google, LaRed, Thjnk, and Accenture Song. Before becoming self-employed, he worked as a Creative Director at Leagas Delaney until 2014. His earlier positions as Senior Creative and Copywriter included Sinner Schrader, Grabarz & Partner, and Jung von Matt, where his professional career began. In his nearly 20 years in the creative business, Hennen’s work has won more than 150 awards, including four Cannes Lions, 24 ADC Nails, and one Golden Effie.

For the past 15 years, the Hamburg-based creative has shared his passion and expertise for communication and creative technologies as a lecturer at various universities. He currently teaches the international course “Applied AI for Creatives” at the Design Factory. In addition, he has been a member of the ADC for eight years, serving as a jury member in the Digital category and as a mentor in the ADC Talent “Welcome to Creativity” program. Hennen is also a successful author (“Kunst, Kommerz & Kinderkriegen,” published by Verlag Hermann Schmidt) and podcast host, and in 2019, he successfully sold his software startup asap.industries to Xing.

Hennen has already worked closely with Curious Company and its founder, Henning Westerwelle, for many years. Among other projects, he wrote the immersive story for the award-winning Globetrotter VR experience.

Appointment marks an important step in Curious Company’s strategic focus

After Julia Wübbe was promoted to Co-Managing Director of Curious Company earlier this year, the appointment of André Hennen marks another significant milestone. With him as the creative lead, the owner-managed digital agency, founded in 2020, can further strengthen its focus on the integration of immersive storytelling, new technologies, and tangible business outcomes. The goal is to create digital brand experiences that are not mere gimmicks or attention-grabbing experiments within the industry, but campaigns and products that deliver real, measurable value for both brands and people.

In this context, Hennen will bring his expertise in immersive storytelling, artificial intelligence, and creative technologies to all of the agency’s projects. He will support the management team around Managing Directors Henning Westerwelle and Julia Wübbe. Current projects at Curious Company include a platform for B2E (Business-to-Employer) communication for Siemens, as well as the digital content strategy realignment for Globetrotter.
