Learning Platform „Welcome to Everyday“
The global Siemens corporate goal – as a game! 8 immersive stories, 2 mini-games, 12 achievements, 3 levels & 1 common goal for 300,000 employees.
Challenge
How do we explain the industrial metaverse, digital twins, and our international sustainability strategy to ALL Siemens employees (and anyone else who is interested)?
Solution
We communicate Siemens’ global core message, “Transform the Everyday,” as an interactive 3D web game for all employees. It has become so successful that it is now also played on large touch displays at trade fairs and events.

Business
Goal
With “Transform the Everyday,” Siemens had very complex and ambitious corporate goals. We were tasked with giving them a form that would interest and explain them to all approximately 300,000 employees. From the board of directors to trainees in the canteen. In line with the two focal points of digital transformation and sustainability, our digital solution also had to be sustainable, i.e. require few resources to operate, be open to further development and ready for versatile use (e.g. trade fairs and events).
Context
It was about nothing less than the industrial metaverse, digital twins, AI, machine learning, intelligent control software, resource-efficient 3D printing processes, alternative drive systems and how we can save the climate. Quite simply. It was clear to all of us that if everyone (including us) was to understand this, we would have to take a completely new approach. So we decided on a game!
Interactive storytelling allows employees to engage with our core message and corporate strategy in a playful way while also having fun.Franz Linner, Employee Communications Specialist at Siemens
Story
Interest & Immersion
We developed a virtual living city consisting of a digital and a real side: “Everyday”. A small (web) metaverse to explain the large (industrial) metaverse.
Complex technical topics were transformed into short, emotional stories. This made technologies tangible and transferred them to real-life desires:
- punctual train travel,
- a city powered entirely by sustainable energy,
- a better and cheaper prosthetic leg,
- your own electric car.
And in many other stories, you accompany the residents of “Everyday” to the solution. In the end, everyone had learned that our technology really does change the everyday lives of millions of people..
UI & Controls
We wanted to make contact with the residents of Everyday as natural and immersive as possible, so we chat with them using a specially developed messenger system.
Fun fact: This system takes into account the latest studies on digital game-based learning (DGBL) in order to store learning content more effectively and permanently.
Tech
Design & 3D
There were no specifications, 3D assets or a look for 3D worlds. The entire world was developed together with the Siemens brand team. And how! We have rarely experienced such fast, goal-oriented and fun collaboration (see chats).
We generated design moods for Everyday in no time at all using AI tools – perfectly matching the Siemens brand look. Then, based on this template, we built the entire city and its inhabitants in 3D.
Gamification
Gamification lives in “Everyday”! To ensure that everyone literally “plays through” the global goals, a complex achievement system with 12 trophies and three levels has been implemented in addition to the missions. Each level unlocks coveted collectibles (e.g. faceframes for the internal Siemens Messenger) and, at level 3 (completed).
In addition, Everyday’s new “tourism campaign” was unveiled on posters throughout the city, and coins could be collected because people simply enjoy collecting coins. It’s entertainment, right?
Compatibility & Further Development
Everyday not only works on all desktop and tablet computers, but now also via touchscreen at trade fairs and events. Everyday has its own CMS, so new stories, topics and languages can be added quickly. This is fortunate for us, as new languages are constantly being implemented. Initially, only English and German were available, but now there are already five, including Asian languages.
Of course, we also keep an eye on analytics, ratings and reviews and make adjustments non-stop.
What's in it for me?
It’s a Platform!
Everyday is designed as a platform. This means that the design and content can be 100% adapted to other topics and brands. This system has been proven to convey even the most complex information in an entertaining and emotional way.
